Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana are hosting The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., from Oct. 29 through Nov. 1 at the Broadway Recreational Complex on Broadway Avenue.

The display is open 24 hours a day and free to the public. The 375-foot-long replica bears the names of the 58,281 service members who died in the Vietnam War and honors the more than three million Americans who served.

Visitors can walk along the names inscribed on the memorial to pay their respects, reflect and grieve. A mobile education center accompanies the exhibit with historical displays, videos and tributes to Vietnam veterans.

Explore Evansville President and CEO Tom White said the city is honored to welcome the tribute and invited visitors from across the region to join the community in remembering those who served.

The exhibit is a program of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, the nonprofit that built the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington. Since its debut in 1996, The Wall That Heals has visited more than 800 communities nationwide.
