Professional women's golf is coming to Evansville for the first time, with a new Epson Tour stop planned at Evansville Country Club next spring.
The inaugural Evansville Championship will bring 132 professional golfers to compete for a $250,000 purse. The event week is scheduled for May 17 through May 22, with official tournament play beginning May 20.
Golf Gives Back board chair Jack Pate said the organization wanted to continue professional golf in Southern Indiana and felt this event would be perfect for Evansville. He said the group is pleased to have signed a three-year agreement with the Epson Tour to bring and maintain professional golf in the region.
During the event, Golf Gives Back will also present a major donation to Building Blocks of Southwestern Indiana, in support of its work serving children and families throughout the region.
