Evansville officers were sent to the Circle K on Fulton Avenue near the Lloyd Expressway at about 7:30 p.m. Friday for a report of shots fired.

Witnesses told police an argument started outside the store after a wallet was dropped on the ground, and that Paul Lopez accused people standing outside of trying to steal his belongings.

Police say Lopez got into the driver's seat of a car, pointed a handgun at a group of people, drove around the parking lot, and then fired multiple shots out of the window as he pulled onto Indiana Street. No injuries were reported.

Officers say they found the vehicle, with Lopez inside, in a parking lot on North First Avenue on Saturday and took him into custody. Police say that after investigators described surveillance and cellphone video of the incident, Lopez admitted pointing the gun and firing, and said the other group had not fired at him. Officers say pills were also found in the vehicle during a search.

Lopez is charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, four counts of intimidation with a deadly weapon, pointing a firearm, and possession of a controlled substance, and was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail. The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
