At least seven people were hurt in a shooting early Sunday morning near the Indiana University campus in Bloomington, police say.
Deputy Chief of Police Ryan Pedigo said the shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Kirkwood Avenue and Grant Street. Officers in the area heard multiple gunshots amid a large crowd, and witnesses reported seeing a man with a gun running from the area.
Officers took one person into custody and reported finding a gun nearby. Pedigo said it is not yet known whether the person in custody is the person who fired the shots.
The nature and extent of the injuries are not yet known, but Pedigo said no fatalities have been reported. Police are still working to learn whether anyone else was hurt.
The information was shared by WTHR, the NBC affiliate in Indianapolis, and the incident remains a developing story.
