Charles Calvert was sentenced to 65 years in prison on Wednesday in the stabbing death of former Allen County magistrate Marcia Linsky.
Calvert, 63, was found guilty of murder earlier this month. Chief Counsel Tesa Helge said family members, friends and colleagues shared memories of Linsky at the sentencing hearing, describing her as a selfless mother, grandmother, friend, mentor and advocate.
"While no sentence can bring Marcia back, today's maximum sentence represents accountability for her death," Helge said, adding that she hoped the outcome would bring some measure of peace to Linsky's family and loved ones.
Linsky, 64, most recently served as a public defender and was found dead in a Grabill home in February 2024. Her boyfriend, Calvert, was arrested and charged with murder.
Court documents say Calvert called 911 on Feb. 13, 2024, saying Linsky had come at him with a knife. Investigators said the scene appeared to have been staged, and officers noted that Calvert was calm throughout the call. Police said only Calvert and Linsky were inside the home that evening.
