Fort Wayne's investment in neighborhood streets and sidewalks took another step forward as two Public Works projects received City Council committee approval. Final approval is expected at a future meeting.
The larger project, at $1.941 million, covers concrete street reconstruction in the Kirkwood Park area. The work includes sub-surface drainage, sidewalk repairs, drive approach repairs and ADA ramps, with completion anticipated in November 2027.
The second project, at $619,400, would build a new sidewalk along Spring Street from Lindenwood Avenue to Saint Francis Drive, the former Leesburg Road, serving the University of Saint Francis. The university is contributing $90,000 toward construction.
City officials say that sidewalk work could start in November, weather permitting, and finish in April 2027.
The two projects are part of a broader $37 million the city says it is investing in neighborhood infrastructure this year under Mayor Sharon Tucker.
