About 50 people gathered Sunday afternoon in a home near the Google data center on Adams Road in Fort Wayne to talk through concerns about the city's growing data center presence.
The gathering was organized by Protect Allen County. Organizers said the goal was to build a coalition of residents worried about negative effects, whether those relate to air quality or to energy costs, and to show concerned residents how they can advocate for one another.
Barry Dibble, who hosted the gathering at his home, said traffic has spiked near his house. He urged neighbors to look closely at where local politicians stand, saying the effort means little without officials' support.
Dibble added that he hopes Sunday's meeting pushes more people to talk directly with local officials.
Protect Allen County plans to hold more community gatherings as the issue continues.
