A 32-year-old Fort Wayne man was found dead in his cell at the Huntington County Jail on Wednesday morning, according to the Huntington County Coroner's Office.
Quantae A. Jackson was found in his single-person cell at about 6:16 a.m. on Oct. 28 by jail staff conducting routine rounds. The coroner's office said evidence at the scene indicated the death was due to self-harm.
An autopsy was performed Wednesday at the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center in Fort Wayne. The coroner's office said the results were consistent with asphyxia due to hanging, and the death has been ruled a suicide.
The investigation is continuing with Indiana State Police and the coroner's office. The coroner's office was assisted by the Huntington Fire Department, Parkview Huntington Hospital EMS and Huntington Central Dispatch, and it extended sympathies to Jackson's family and friends.
