State and local leaders celebrated the opening of the new 18-acre Ohio Township Park on Libbert Road in Warrick County with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The park features a large playground, a splash pad, and courts for pickleball, basketball and sand volleyball.

Officials say the idea for the park came about while they were searching for land to build a new fire station. Leaders hope the space will provide more recreational opportunities for the growing community.

Gov. Mike Braun attended the ceremony alongside Ohio Township Trustee Chad Bennett. Braun praised the planning behind the project, saying he travels the state often and had not seen anything quite like it.
