U.S. Rep. Frank Mrvan, a Democrat, has won reelection in Indiana's 1st Congressional District, defeating Republican challenger Barb Regnitz.

With 84 percent of votes counted, Mrvan had about 63 percent of the vote, according to the Associated Press. Results remain unofficial until certified.

The 1st District covers Lake and Porter counties and a portion of LaPorte County in northwest Indiana. Mrvan was first elected in 2020 and has represented the district since then.

Along with Indianapolis Rep. André Carson, Mrvan is one of only two Indiana Democrats in the U.S. House. His win keeps the northwest Indiana seat in Democratic hands for another two-year term.
