The driver injured when a plane struck his vehicle near Boonville on Sunday has died, according to the Boonville Police Department.
The Warrick County coroner identified the man as 88-year-old Leon Hatchett. He was seriously hurt in the Oct. 18 crash and taken to a hospital, where police confirmed on Thursday that he died of his injuries.
Police say the plane was taking off westbound on the runway at Boonville Airport when it hit the car traveling on Baker Road, tearing off the aircraft's landing gear.
Despite the damage, the plane was able to land safely back at the airport, officials said.
No information has been released about the pilot or any passengers, and the circumstances of the crash remain under review.
