A proposed data center ordinance continues to take shape in Warrick County, where county commissioners and the Area Plan Commission have been working together on rules for considering future projects.
The work follows discussion of a potential data center on Alcoa property that has been called Project Alloy. Earlier this year the plan commission formed a committee, and its work — along with input from residents, county officials and other stakeholders, and a review of ordinances from other jurisdictions — helped shape the proposal.
County leaders say the draft establishes detailed application requirements and a review process covering potential impacts involving noise, electricity, water, roads, public safety, environmental conditions and surrounding properties. The ordinance remains under public review and no final decision has been made.
The Area Plan Commission will hold a public hearing on Nov. 2, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Friedman Park Event Center. Commissioners will then consider the plan commission's recommendation at their regular meeting on Nov. 9 at 4 p.m., also at the Friedman Park Event Center.
