Vanderburgh County voters gained more places to vote early on Monday, Oct. 19, when three Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library branches and one church opened as vote centers at noon, joining Central Library downtown.
County Clerk Dottie Thomas said 3,816 people had voted at Central Library's Browning Room as of Monday afternoon — a pace she said is on track with 2022, the most recent midterm, when 4,668 people voted early at that site in all of October. Her office had also received 1,176 returned absentee ballots.
The newly opened sites drew a quick crowd. Thomas said more than 700 people checked in within the first two hours across the added locations.
Central Library, at 200 SE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays through Oct. 30, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 24 and 31, and 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 2. McCollough, North Park and Oaklyn libraries and West Side Christian Church on North Red Bank Road are open from noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 19 through 29, and noon to 5 p.m. on Oct. 23 and 30. Election Day is Nov. 3.
