Severe storms prompted tornado warnings across parts of southwestern Indiana on Thursday evening, Oct. 15, including a warning the National Weather Service described as covering a radar-confirmed tornado.

The first warning, issued at 7:07 p.m. EDT for north-central Knox County until 7:45 p.m., said a tornado-producing storm was located over Russellville, about 10 miles north of Vincennes, and moving east at about 20 mph. Bicknell was listed among the places in the warned area.

A second warning followed at 7:41 p.m. for east-central Knox County and central Daviess County until 8:15 p.m. That storm was located west of Washington and moving east, with Washington, Monroe City, Wheatland and Montgomery among the places listed.

Severe thunderstorm warnings for the same area earlier in the evening warned of 60 mph wind gusts and possible damage to roofs, siding and trees around Vincennes, Bicknell and nearby communities.

Both tornado warnings have since expired. As of late Thursday, no tornado reports had been filed for the warnings, and any National Weather Service damage survey would be expected on Friday.
