Evansville broke a daily high-temperature record on Monday, reaching 90 degrees at Evansville Regional Airport and topping the old record of 87 degrees set in 1989. Breezy, warm winds out of the southwest pushed temperatures up through the day.
Tuesday brought another chance at the record books, with a forecast high of 91 degrees against a record of 90, also set in 1989. Reaching it would make 12 record highs for Evansville in 2026 — well ahead of the seven record highs the city recorded in all of 2025 and the four in 2024, according to Derrick Snyder of the National Weather Service. The city's busiest year for record highs was 2012, with 19.
The October heat is about to break. Wednesday and Thursday stay warmer than normal, with highs of 83 and 85 degrees, but rain and thunderstorms move in — and by Friday the high is expected to reach only about 62 degrees.
