Evansville police have released body camera footage from a fatal officer-involved shooting on East Illinois Street, and the incident remains under investigation.
Police say the confrontation began around noon on Tuesday, Oct. 13, in the 1500 block of East Illinois Street, after a call about a man with a protective order against him showing up at a home. Police initially said the man shot a woman inside the home.
A responding officer encountered the man at the doorway, and police say he was pointing a gun at the officer. The officer fired multiple rounds, and the man died at the scene. The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office later identified him as 46-year-old Ryan Morrow.
The woman was taken to a hospital with injuries police described as non-life-threatening. Police said on Wednesday that ballistics testing will be used to determine the source of her gunshot wounds. One officer is on paid administrative leave, which police say is required by department policy after an officer-involved shooting.
