The City of Evansville will hold its final Block-by-Block event of 2026 on Friday, Oct. 23, in the Star neighborhood. The work runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., starting at 1007 W. Maryland Street, with city crews and staff on hand to connect residents with city services where they live.
The morning's biggest visible step will be the demolition of a blighted home under Mayor Stephanie Terry's Flight Blight initiative, which targets run-down properties around the city. Block-by-Block is part of the mayor's wider Neighborhood Revitalization effort.
Since the program launched in 2024, the city says it has hauled away more than 180,000 pounds of trash, filled 326 potholes, mowed more than 189 overgrown yards and cleaned up more than 123 properties with trash and debris violations.
Volunteers are welcome to join the Oct. 23 event. Sign-ups are available through the city's website at evansvillegov.org/block.
