Evansville's annual fall leaf pickup begins Monday, Oct. 26, and runs through Friday, Dec. 11, the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility said in a news release.

Leaves must be in biodegradable plastic or paper bags, or placed in containers, and set out in manageable, organized piles at the curb next to the residential trash cart before 6 a.m. on the normal trash collection day. Leaves that are not in biodegradable bags, or that do not meet the program's requirements, will not be collected, and residents will be asked to re-bag them for the following week.

The unlimited collection is for Evansville city residents who pay for trash service on their monthly water bill. Apartment complexes, mobile home communities, businesses and customers outside the city limits are not eligible.

Residents who believe their leaves were missed despite following the rules can call EWSU Customer Service at 812-436-7846 within two days of their regular collection day. Heavy trash pickup will be paused during the leaf collection window and is scheduled to resume Monday, Dec. 14.
