The Indiana Department of Natural Resources will stock 755 rainbow trout at three locations in Fort Wayne and Huntington this fall, expanding fall fishing options in community settings, according to a DNR report.

The largest share, 315 trout, will go into Shoaff Park Pond at Shoaff Park on Fort Wayne's northeast side. Another 215 trout will be stocked in Spy Run Creek where it enters Franke Park, across the parking lot from the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. In Huntington, 225 trout will go into the north pond only at Memorial Park, west of downtown.

The stocked fish will average 13 to 15 inches long and come from the Curtis Creek Trout Rearing Station. DNR fisheries research biologist Matthew Linn said the fall stocking program is meant to give families an accessible way to enjoy trout fishing close to home.

Stocking is expected to be finished by Friday, Oct. 23, and fishing at the three sites may begin then. Anglers age 18 and older need a valid Indiana fishing license and a trout stamp, and the daily limit is five trout per angler.
